South Africa - my first visit and meeting the inlaws!











Although officially I am over half way through my London experience I have only discovered this site this year, so it's fitting that the first post I put on it is our first holiday away for the year of 2006! We had originally planned to go to South Africa over Christmas but with flights costing over £1000 ($3000NZ) it was a little too expensive!! As I was still on a trial at work I went for two weeks and Philip took the whole month off as it was his first trip back since being in London (almost three years).

We stayed with Philip's Mum (Freida) and her partner (Rassi) for the two weeks in Cape Town. Philips Dad (Wikus but pronounced Vickus) and wife (Beryl) travelled down to visit us for a weekend so it was extra special that I was able to meet them also.

We had an absolutely fabulous time and it was summer!!! Highlights included visiting some wineries and going strawberry picking, sampling all the devine South African cuisine which I have developed a taste for, going up Table Mountain one evening (watching the sun set on one side of the mountain then walking over the other side to see the lights of the city, with bubbly of course), going to Rotanga Junction Theme Park and meeting Philips extended family of course!!
